In 1957 the Eldorado Brougham was the most expensive production car in the world.
At $13,074., the Eldorado Brougham was $2,000 higher than a Rolls-Royce and five times pricier than a Chevrolet Belair. Each car was assembled by hand and shared no body parts with any other car. Brougham production was only 400 for 1957 and 304 for 1958 and cost Cadillac a staggering $25,000 to build. General Motors was willing to absorb that loss to make a statement of dominance in luxury and innovation.

These chariots were typically owned by movie stars and those who wanted the very best. Bob Hope, John Wayne, Frank Sinatra and Aristotle Onassis are but a few of the original Brougham owners.

The Brougham marked industry firsts in all sorts of technical advances and luxury: Electronic memory seat; electric door locks; opening and closing power trunk and power automatic antenna.

The Brougham was the ultimate personal luxury car, the epitome of elegance. Unsurpassed even today, the Eldorado Brougham stands out as the best example of America’s postwar love affair with the automobile.

This Car
This particular car was the subject of an extensive body-off, frame-up restoration over many years. It’s a gorgeous Early in its life it was converted from air to springs, as most were for the sake of reliability. It could be converted back, but most owners choose to leave it on springs as the ride is fantastic and totally reliable.

After acquiring the car in 2003 from a collector in Arizona, the owners continued to perfect the car to a very high standard. In June of 2008, this car was given three awards at the Los Angeles Concours, First In Class, Special Design Award and also Best of Show, Postwar!! This is astounding if you know the quality and number of fine post-war cars at the Los Angeles Concours each year.

This car also has all of the personal vanities, which are exceedingly difficult to find today and command rather staggering prices. Included in the vanities are:

Front Glove Box
• Built-in tissue dispenser
• Fold down magnetic tray, which could also be used as a mirror
• Six magnetic drinking cups in plastic holder, which could be placed on the magnetic tray
• Arpége de Lanvin Perfume with atomizer (exceedingly rare!)
• Evans vanity case in matching leather with flannel cover (the cover is often missing)
• A fitted plastic cigarette box replete with vintage Fleetwood Cigarettes unopened!

• Note pad with correct Cross sterling silver mechanical pencil
• Beveled mirror with matching leather back

The correct perfume with atomizer is most rare of all these vanities. Asking prices on e-bay have escalated steadily over the years, according to Cadillac archivist Yann Sanders, with the most recent record asking price of $60,000! This particular car also has the atomizer with operating instructions, also quite rare! The owner’s manual is also original, quite rare to find today.

This is it if you want the finest! Look no further, but don’t wait too long! Everything on the car works and is the nicest one we have ever seen, nothing even close. These cars are very expensive to restore, if you could find all the parts, not to mention the exceedingly rare vanities, which are all included with this car. This is not a “fixer”. Take it to any show anywhere and win. There is nothing to do but enjoy!
