In 1998 Vickers decided to sell Rolls-Royce and Bentley. BMW ended up as the owner of Rolls-Royce and ultimately moved to Goodwood, England. Thus, the hand-built genuine Rolls-Royce produced by the coachbuilder Mulliner Park Ward came to an end and no successor has been produced, no doubt due to the enormous cost to build such a motorcar today, even utilizing BMW parts as is done in other current models.
This "last series" of the 100-year old famous company is the very end of the proud tradition, with only six limousines produced worldwide in 1999, per Rolls-Royce Ltd. As such, this car, lavishly equipped and with only 5700 miles, represents a true opportunity for the collector and Rolls-Royce connoisseur. Fiercely expensive when new, this car may now be acquired at a substantial savings.
Finished in elegant black with striking polished stainless steel finishers exterior, the interior is a sea of Stratos medium gray leather with darker gray Slate piping and a special Mulliner Park Ward creation Springfield Buttoned leather seating (itself a $4706 option). The motorcar has a turbocharged 6.75 Litre V8 to assure effortless modern day power and acceleration and 4 speed automatic overdrive transmission. The finest leather is complimented by extensive burr walnut matched wood with crossbanding and boxwood inlay throughout. Special equipment includes front and rear air conditioning, heated seats, burr wood folding picnic tables, vanity mirrors, lambswool rugs dyed to match front and rear, crystal cocktail requisites in a burr wood and leather bar that is simply stunning, an occasional "jump" seat, phone, division window and leather privacy blind, moon roof with leather electrically operated blind, automatic headlamp system, television and entertainment center, front and rear intercom, burr wood door panels to all four doors, extra burr wood in the rear cabin, leather headliner, veneered switch panels and much more.
Owned most of its life by a discriminating west coast collector, this car has spent its entire life in California. Therefore no rust or similar concerns. The motorcar has been maintained as part of a larger collection and detailed weekly, whether used or not. You will simply not find a finer example as the photos below and your personal examination will attest. Please feel free to call with any questions and happy buying!
